FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 1, 2016

YUKON FIRST NATION CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL ARCTIC INDIGENOUS INVESTMENT CONFERENCE

The Yukon First Nation Chamber of Commerce (YFNCC) is pleased to announce the inaugural 2017 Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference (AIIC 2017) from February 13th – 15th in Whitehorse, Yukon. This conference will highlight and promote First Nation Development Corporations and Aboriginal Businesses in all sectors of the northern economy. The conference will create prosperity by forging new relationships, advancing partnerships, and engaging new contacts across the Arctic including: Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, Northern BC & Alberta, Labrador North, and Alaska.

“This conference is an excellent opportunity for YFNCC to showcase the innovation that exists across the north, to the rest of Canada, and to develop and advance important strategic connections for the future”, says YFNCC President Lynn Hutton. “This conference will be a first for Yukon; a First Nation multi-sector investment oriented conference, developed in partnership with the Development Corporations themselves. It will provide delegates with the opportunity to learn about First Nations businesses across the Arctic, hear innovative ideas and create new strategic connections to support future endeavors. We hope to hold a kickoff event for the conference in October with a very exciting keynote, so stay tuned!”

Over the three-day conference, hosted at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural centre and the Coast High Country Inn and Convention Centre, delegates will have the opportunity to engage in strategic one-on-one meetings, exhibit at or visit the AIIC Trade Show & First Nation Artisan Market, and listen to keynotes and panel discussion on a number of topics, such as tourism and culture, technology and innovation, finance and investment, youth & entrepreneurs, and natural resources. The conference will also host an Awards Banquet and Ceremony as well as a number of networking and special events.

“On behalf of the YFNCC Board of Directors, I would like to extend our thanks to our Yukon Development Corporation partners, and our title sponsor, Goldcorp, for their enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the development of this conference,” stated Ms. Hutton.

Register today at our offices or by online registration launching in October 2016. Conference keynotes and other special events will be announced periodically throughout the fall.
